Results of QC

A total of 80 profiles (67028 data, reported by BATHY or TESAC) were received from the HORIZON ENTERPRISE.
The results of JMA quality control are as follows.
  • Grounded test
  • Error data: 0 of 67028

  • Position on land test
  • On land: 0 of 80

    Invalid position: 0 of 80

  • Regional range test
  • Error data (low): 0 of 67028

Error data (high): 0 of 67028

  • Gradient test
  • Error data: 20 of 67028

For details of JMA's quality control procedures, please refer to this page.

Summary of QC

  • Some erroneous profiles are detected by JMA's automated quality control procedures. These are checked by the gradient test.
  • There were differences above 2°C between the results of assimilation and a profile data observed at depths of between 100 and 300m in the seas west from 147°W.
  • With the exception of the above errors and differences, there were no significant biases in comparison with the results of assimilation by JMA.
