Results of QC

A total of 40 profiles (853 data, reported by BATHY or TESAC) were received from the RYOFU MARU III.
The results of JMA quality control are as follows.
  • Grounded test
  • Error data: 0 of 853

  • Position on land test
  • On land: 0 of 40

    Invalid position: 0 of 40

  • Regional range test
  • Error data (low): 0 of 853

Error data (high): 0 of 853

  • Gradient test
  • Error data: 0 of 853

Summary of QC

  • QC detected no unnatural profiles.
  • There were large differences between observation data and the results of assimilation in areas north of 30°N (near the Kuroshio front).
  • At the depths of less than 300 m in areas south of 15°N, there were differences above 2°C between observation data and the results of assimilation. The observation data showed sharper thermocline than assimilation data.
