Travel
  • In Japan, taxis are more expensive than other types of transportation. It is recommended that you use trains and buses for transportation during your stay.
  • Refer to "Accommodation" and "Venue" pages for the access from Tsukuba Center to the accommodation (Ninomiya House) and from the accommodation to the venue (the Aerological Observatory).

Access from Narita Airport to Tsukuba Center
  • Take an airport bus bound for Tsukuba Center/Tsuchiura Station and get off at Tsukuba Center. It takes about 1.5 hours and costs 2,000 yen from Narita Airport to Tsukuba Center. The bus schedule is available for download (http://ds.data.jma.go.jp/wcc/dobson/dict2016/bus-timetable.pdf).
  • Bus tickets from Narita Airport to Tsukuba Center are sold only on the day. Please purchase at the following sale office before getting on.

  •   First passenger terminal: North Wing 1F Keisei counter
      Second passenger terminal: 1F Keisei counter
      Third passenger terminal: 1F high-speed bus ticket counter

  • Bus tickets from Tsukuba Center to Narita Airport are sold one month before the boarding day. You can purchase bus tickets on a PC, mobile phones, and telephone. For the purchase of bus tickets, please refer to the Kanto Railway's website at http://kantetsu.co.jp/bus/highway_tsuchiura_narita.html. From the drop-down list at the top of the page of the Kanto Railway's website, you can select a familiar language (English, Korean, and Chinese).

Access from Haneda Airport to Tsukuba Center

  By monorail and train
  • Take Tokyo Monorail Line and get off at Hamamatsu-cho Station. It takes about 20 minutes and costs 490 yen from Haneda Airport to Hamamatsu-cho Station. Tokyo Monorail Line is operated every 5 minutes during the day.
  • Transfer to JR Line at Hamamatsu-cho Station and get off at Akihabara Station. It takes about 10 minutes and costs 160 yen from Hamamatsu-cho Station to Akihabara Station. JR Line is operated every 5 minutes during the day between Hamamatsu-cho Station and Akihabara Station.
  • From Akihabara Station, take Tsukuba Express (TX) and get off at Tsukuba Station. It takes 45 minutes by Rapid, 52 minutes by Semi-Rapid and costs 1,190 yen from Akihabara to Tsukuba Station. TX is operated with intervals of every 10 to 15 minutes during the day between Akihabara Station and Tsukuba Station.
  • Tsukuba Center is just off the exit A3 of Tsukuba Station.

  By bus
  • Take an airport bus bound for Tsukuba Center/Namiki Ohashi and get off at Tsukuba Center. It takes about 2 hours and costs 1,850 yen from Haneda Airport to Tsukuba Center. The bus schedule is available for download (http://ds.data.jma.go.jp/wcc/dobson/dict2016/bus-timetable.pdf).
  • Bus tickets from Haneda Airport to Tsukuba Center are sold at the following places. Please purchase before getting on.

  •   Haneda Airport International Terminal: 2F arrival robby bus ticket sales counter
      Haneda Airport Terminal 1 and 2: 1F arrival robby ticket counter or vending machine

  • Bus tickets from Tsukuba Center to Haneda Airport are sold at Kantetsu School Service Center. Kantetsu School Service Center resides on the BiVi Tsukuba building 1F near Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal.
