Activities of the Regional Dobson Calibration Centre for Asia

Dobson regional intercomparisons were held in 1996 at the JMA Aerological Observatory in Tsukuba, Japan, as part of the International Workshops on Ozone Observation in Asia and the Pacific Ocean (IWOAP) I and II. A total of seven instruments from RA-II countries were involved in the event.
Seminars on ozone observation were also held as part of the IWOAP I and II at the JMA Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. The seminars were attended by experts from a total of eleven countries in areas including Asia and the Pacific region.
Since the IWOAP, Dobson regional intercomparisons have been held periodically as follows.

Automated Dobson system
JMA's Aerological Observatory developed the automated Dobson system in 1994. And the advanced system began in routine operation at the GAW ozone observation network (Tsukuba, Seoul, Sapporo, and Naha) in June 2006.
Technical guidance for automation of the Dobson system had made by the expert from JMA at Seoul (2006), Boulder (2009).
