The NEAR-GOOS Regional Real Time Database edited on 03 October 1996 updated on 15 June 1999 updated on 13 March 2000 updated on 09 August 2000 updated on 18 November 2003 updated on 15 July 2010 updated on 24 December 2013 updated on 01 December 2021 This file describes the directory structure of the database and the file name. The database contains two types of data. 1) In-situ data GTS data collected via GTS and the the result of observations implemented by JMA. 2) JMA products The result of analysis implemented by JMA. The data are stored on sub directory named [JMA] and more precise information is denoted in README file in the directory. Directory structure: /home/ -------- pub/ ----------- ship/ (FM13 SHIP reports for NEAR-GOOS region) | | | ----- buoy/ (FM18 BUOY reports for NEAR-GOOS region) | | | ----- bathy/ (FM62 BATHY reports for NEAR-GOOS region) | | | ----- tesac/ (FM63 TESAC reports for NEAR-GOOS region) | | | ----- trackob/ (FM64 TRACKOB reports for NEAR-GOOS region) | | | ----- subst/ (Sub surface temperature decode result for NEAR-GOOS region, ver. 1.01 1998/1- ) | | | ----- wind/ (Wind decode result for NEAR-GOOS region, ver 1.00 '98.1) | | | ----- GTSPP/ (Temperature and salinity profile observation data extracted from the quality controlled dataset) | | | ----- GLOBAL/ (2000/3/13- ) | | | | | ----- ship/ (FM13 SHIP reports for global) | | | | | ----- buoy/ (FM18 BUOY reports for global) | | | | | ----- bathy/ (FM62 BATHY reports for global) | | | | | ----- tesac/ (FM63 TESAC reports for global) | | | | | ----- trackob/ (FM64 TRACKOB reports for global) | | | | | ----- DECODE/ | | | | | ----- TS/ (Sub surface temperature decode result for global, ver. 2 2000/9- ) | | | | | ----- Wind/ (Wind decode result for global, ver. 2 2000/9- ) | | | ----- DECODE/ | | | | | ----- TS/ (Sub surface temperature decode result for NEAR-GOOS region, ver. 2 2000/9- ) | | | | | ----- Wind/ (Wind decode result for NEAR-GOOS region, ver. 2 2000/9- ) | | | ----- JMA-Product/ (JMA Products 2013/12/24- ) | | | | | ----(Your home directory) File name (in-situ data only): The names of the files under the above directories have the following rule to indicate the type of report, observation date, and the date that JMA received the report through GTS. Each file contains all the reports corresponding to the following file name. xxxxx.obsMMMdd.rcvMMMdd ("xxxxx" is the name of the code used for reporting. "ship" for example.) "MMMdd" immediate after "obs" is the date of observation. "MMM" means month in three-letter abbreviations and "dd" means day. For ship observations, "MMM" is always denoted by "Day", because the month is not reported in the WMO code "SHIP". This date is obtained automatically from the date group in the reported message, therefore, when the algorithm cannot identify the date group, the report is put in a file whose name is xxxxx.obsXXXXX.rcvMMMdd. ("XXXXX" is added as dummy characters instead of the date of observation) "MMMdd" after "rcv" is the date of reception at JMA. "rcvMay04" means that the data contained in the file is received during 24 hours from 0010UTC May 3 to 0010UTC May 4.
