Results of QC

A total of 41 profiles (919 data, reported by BATHY or TESAC) were received from the RYOFU MARU III.
The results of JMA quality control are as follows.
  • Grounded test
  • Error data: 0 of 919

  • Position on land test
  • On land: 0 of 41

    Invalid position: 0 of 41

  • Regional range test
  • Error data (low): 0 of 919

Error data (high): 0 of 919

  • Gradient test
  • Error data: 0 of 919

Summary of QC

  • QC detected no unnatural profiles.
  • There were large differences between observation data and the results of assimilation in areas near the Kuroshio front (around 33°N).
  • At depths of between 140 and 260 m in areas south of 5°N, there were differences above 2°C between observation data and the results of assimilation. The observation data showed sharper thermocline than the assimilation data.
