Future Plans of the Tokyo Climate Center
TCC has applied to become a participating institution of the Regional Climate Center Network in RA-II, and has also submitted its implementation plan for RCC activity to the President of RA-II.
In order to provide a tailored seasonal prediction product suitable for practical use in a variety of socio-economic sectors in Southeast Asia, TCC is conducting a three-year research project in cooperation with the FUJITSU FIP Corporation. The three main objectives of this project are as follows:
- - development of a technique to derive appropriate probabilistic forecasts from JMA's one-month Ensemble Prediction System (EPS) products,
- - development of a statistical downscaling technique for observation-point forecasts in Southeast Asia from global prediction model outputs, and
- - research on effective ways to use detailed probabilistic forecasts based on the two techniques listed above in socio-economic activities.
