The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has published Global Warming Projection reports since 1996 to facilitate assessment of the impacts of anthropogenic global warming (AGW), help promote the implementation of measures for AGW mitigation and adaptation, and raise public awareness and understanding of the science behind climate change.
Global Warming Projection Volume 8 (referred to here as GWPV8) outlines historical and future climate projections for the area around Japan based on the results of numerical experiments involving the use of a convection-permitting non-hydrostatic regional climate model (NHRCM) developed by JMA's Meteorological Research Institute (MRI).
