Climate Report over Japan
Monthly Highlights
Because it was hardly affected by the Baiu front, monthly sunshine durations were significantly above normal in eastern Japan and monthly precipitation amounts were significantly below normal in the Pacific side of eastern Japan. Monthly precipitation amounts were significantly above normal in northern Japan due to frequent passage of cyclones. Monthly mean temperatures were below normal in western Japan because cold high pressures often covered the region. Monthly sunshine durations were below normal in Okinawa/Amami due to Baiu front and moist air flow.
