Results of QC

A total of 121(94488 levels, reported by BATHY or TESAC) were received from the MIYAGI-MARU.
The results of JMA quality control are as follows.
  • Grounded test
  • Error data: 0 of 94488

  • Position on land test
  • On land: 0 of 121

    Invalid position: 0 of 121

  • Regional range test
  • Error data (low): 0 of 94488

Error data (high): 0 of 94488

  • Gradient test
  • Error data: 6 of 94488

For datails of JMA's quality control procedures, please refer to this page.

Summary of QC

  • Some erroneous profiles are detected by JMA's automated quality control procedures and these are checked by the gradient test.
  • There was no significant bias in comparison with the results of assimilation by JMA.
  • There were large differences between observation data and the results of assimilation in areas south of the Kuroshio extension (east of 155°E) due to cold and warm eddies.
