Results of QC

A total of 128 profiles (104439 data, reported by BATHY or TESAC) were received from the MELL SPRINGWOOD.
The results of JMA quality control are as follows.
  • Grounded test
  • Error data: 141 of 104439

  • Position on land test
  • On land: 0 of 128

    Invalid position: 0 of 128

  • Regional range test
  • Error data (low): 0 of 104439

Error data (high): 19 of 104439

  • Gradient test
  • Error data: 103 of 104439

For datails of JMA's quality control procedures, please refer to this page.

Summary of QC

  • Some erroneous profiles are detected by JMA's automated quality control procedures. These are checked by the grounded test, regional range test and the gradient test.
  • There are large differences at a depth of shallower than 400 m in the seas east of 122°E.
  • With the exception of the above errors, there was no significant bias in comparison with the results of assimilation by JMA.
