Results of QC

A total of 40 profiles (1288 data, reported by BATHY or TESAC) were received from the NORTHEWEST SANDERLING.
The results of JMA quality control are as follows.
  • Grounded test
  • Error data: 0 of 1288

  • Position on land test
  • On land: 0 of 40

    Invalid position: 0 of 40

  • Regional range test
  • Error data (low): 0 of 1288

Error data (high): 2 of 1288

  • Gradient test
  • Error data: 0 of 1288

For details of JMA's quality control procedures, please refer to this page.

Summary of QC

  • QC detected some unnatural profiles shown in 'Results of QC'.
  • There were large differences at depths of between 50 and 300 m. The observation data showed sharper thermocline better than the assimilation data.
  • With the exception of the above differences, there were no significant biases in comparison with the results of assimilation by JMA.
