Results of QC

A total of 26 profiles (839 data, reported by BATHY or TESAC) were received from the NORTHEWEST SANDERLING.
The results of JMA quality control are as follows.
  • Grounded test
  • Error data: 0 of 839

  • Position on land test
  • On land: 0 of 26

    Invalid position: 0 of 26

  • Regional range test
  • Error data (low): 0 of 839

Error data (high): 0 of 839

  • Gradient test
  • Error data: 0 of 839

For details of JMA's quality control procedures, please refer to this page.

Summary of QC

  • QC detected no unnatural profiles.
  • At depths of between 50 and 200 m in the south of 10°N, there were differences above 2°C between observation data and the results of assimilation. The observation data showed sharper thermocline better than the assimilation data.
  • With the exception of the above differences and the vertical sections at around 1°N, there were no significant biases in comparison with the results of assimilation by JMA.
