Results of QC

A total of 83 profiles (70692 data, reported by BATHY or TESAC) were received from the HORIZON ENTERPRISE.
The results of JMA quality control are as follows.
  • Grounded test
  • Error data: 0 of 70692

  • Position on land test
  • On land: 0 of 83

    Invalid position: 0 of 83

  • Regional range test
  • Error data (low): 0 of 70692

Error data (high): 0 of 70692

  • Gradient test
  • Error data: 20 of 70692

For details of JMA's quality control procedures, please refer to this page.

Summary of QC

  • QC detected some unnatural profiles shown in 'Results of QC'.
  • At depths of around 50 m in areas east of 130°W and depths of between 100 and 300 m in areas around 146°W and 148°W, there were differences above 2°C between observation data and the results of assimilation. The observation data showed sharper thermocline than the assimilation data.
