Climate System Monitoring
JMA monitors the present state of the global atmospheric, oceanic and terrestrial climate system with focus on atmospheric circulation, tropical convection, oceanic conditions and snow/ice coverage based on numerical objective analysis data (the Japanese 55-year Reanalysis; JRA-55) and satellite observations. The results provide useful information for interpretation of current climate conditions, including extreme events and long-term trends, and for long-range forecasts and scientific research.
